8 Things Your Loyalty App Can Do For You

Customer Loyalty drives the sort of positive word-of-mouth marketing that money just can’t buy. It’s much easier to increase your business with an existing customer than it is to create a new customer.

1. Manage

Help to manage your existing customer relationship. The foundation of any business is knowing their customers. A loyalty app can deliver more nuance to this data than almost any other method.

2. Automate

Send targeted promotions, using automated time and location triggered special member offers and exclusive event invitations. Using ‘If …Then …’ rules willto select these will keep notifications relevant and ensure high opening rates.

3. Attract

Bring new customers onboard through natural social media and other customer-led interactions. Creating an intimate and exclusive ‘club’ feel can be a great way to build on your customer base.

4. Engage

Give customers a reason to open your app often. If you choose to send notifications through the app, make sure that they’re of genuine interest and value. “Just because “ offers can be an effective way to prompt action from dormant customers.

5. Build Trust

It’s important to stay well back from the so-called ‘creepy line’ that Eric Schmidt refers to. Knowing your customer well is important - but too many generic offers can come across as needy and inappropriate. ‘Real offers in real time’ is a great approach to take.

6. Build Community

Giving your customers a forum to chat is a great way to make them feel special. Be prepared to engage with all comments, but be thoughtful in your responses - replyingimmediately to a critical post late at night may not always be the best thing to do.  Moderate groups with a firm, but light touch. Set standards for behaviour and stick to them remember that with power comes responsibility.

7. Build Customer Advocacy

With a direct communications channel to your customers, you have an opportunity to build a unique and lasting relationship. Your brand message can be heard directly without the vagaries and filtering of traditional media. Product rationales, concepts and future plans can all be discussed in a forum that is in your control.

8. Build Business

The 80/20 rule is alive and well in the 21st Century, and if 80% of your business really does come from the most loyal 20% of your customers then a loyalty app is the perfect vehicle to do it.
